The system consists of a tethered aerostat mounted 2 axis stabilised camera platform, (available on tethered blimp, and on other platforms), with a camera control basestation.

The unique aerostat design supports the camera platform housing the camera and all video processing, interface and control electronics.

All power, video and communications between platform and ground station are fed via Radio Transmission.

Aerostat batteries and radio transceivers are required, low battery drain allows long periods of deployed operation. 4hrs of Continuous Operations, 14hrs in Stand-by Mode with 1 lb. Battery Pack

Optional power feed via a cable woven into the aerostat tether is available.

Note: Higer wattage transmitter require larger battery and may require a larger balloon to lift the system.
The System Control Panel provides all camera positional and operational controls.
Three video transmission options are available, all at 2.4 Ghz carrier frequency:
1. Standard low wattage video transmitter included, up to 1,000+ ft.:
2. Medium wattage video transmitter system, up to 5,000 ft;
3. High wattage video transmitter system, up to 4+ miles.
The System Control Panel has a wireless range of up to 5,000 feet.

    The de-jitter feature holds objects in the image at the same location on the screen (quiet to the viewer). It does this by re-registering each frame to minimize video object motion. The de-jitter feature has adjustable gain for translation (x-y) and rotation.
    Object Tracking
    The upgraded interface uses information from video motion analysis to send pan/tilt commands to the AltiCam turret for hands free object tracking. Object tracking has two modes, “Track” and “Mark”
  • “Track” allows the user to follow moving objects by placing the track box over an object in the image. When “Track” is engaged, the interface sends pan/tilts commands to the turret to keep the object in the center of the screen. Following cars or people from an airborne turret is a good use for this mode.
  • “Mark” allows the user to hold the whole video image in place. The interface sends pan/tilt commands to the turret to prevent the turret from drifting off a scene. Holding a stationary scene is a good use for this mode.
  • Mosaicing (Deck of Cards)
    The interface can mosaic the unused portion of the video area by leaving old images behind. It is called “Deck of Cards” because the old images appear below the live image like a deck of cards. Deck of Cards adds information to otherwise unused video area. The number of cards left behind is adjustable from 0 to 20.
    High resolution still images
    You can create high-resolution (1024x768) snapshots of your current video image. Snapshots are created from multiple fields and frames of incoming video through a sophisticated image processing technique. It not only removes sensor and compressor noise from the incoming video but also increases the actual resolution by combining information from multiple source images.
    Video Recording
    The upgraded interface can record the incoming video to file. Only the raw video is recorded. The video file can be played through the interface so that the advanced features can enhance the video replay.
    Video Input
    The interface can get video from a “Video for Windows” device, Axis Video Server and video file. This allows the interface to be used in a wide range of situations.
    The interface optionally comes with advanced features developed by Real Time Video Systems (RTVS). The PC interface can De-jitter the video image and use video analysis to do hands off object tracking. This document introduces and explains the advanced features that the RTVS option adds.

  • DEPLOYMENT
    The SKY-DOC™ 15 foot balloon requires up to 4 294 cuft helium bottles, 3,000 pound capacity Windlass/Mooring Winch or capstan.

    TETHER LINE
    The SKY-DOC™ 20 foot balloon requires a tether line that will withstand over 3,000 pound pull. This tether line must be capable of not stretching even under these high lifting situations. We provide the best tether line in the world for this unique balloon. Standard tether, tether with conductors woven in the tether are available.

    SPECIAL NOTE The special design of the SKY-DOC™ balloon allows for increased lift with increased winds. Thereby the system stays in the sky in Hurricane Force Winds. Since it can stay aloft, no special enclosure is required for the system during heavy winds. Once it has been launched, the system will operate until the task is completed. Because of its special Patent Pending design, the amount of Helium required is keep to a minimum.
